History of Channel S Awards
Bangladeshi's in Britain date back as early as the 17th Century. The very first catering business was set up as far back as 1810. Larger numbers of settlers arrived in Britain mid way through the 20th Century and in the last 60 years have gone from strength to strength. In every field of industry Bangladeshi's have thrived and become an important contributor to the British Economy. Today Bangladeshi's have excelled in every profession from Medicine, Law, Industry, Education and Politics.
Channel S Awards, under the guidance of Ahmed us Samad Chowdhury JP, Chairman of Channel S Television, a successful entrepreneur and respected community activist, has become one of the most prestigious awards of recognition within the community of Britain and Europe. Over the last 5 years Channel S Awards has sought out the most worthy recipients for awards and accolades to mark the significant progress of a relatively young community in Britain.
Working with a panel of professional and respectable Judges from within the community, thousands of nominations are scrutinised and researched to select the most deserved winners. In the last five years Channel S Awards has been the only awarding body to recognise achievements in the widest of categories, from education to arts and culture, encompassing the whole breadth of progress in the British Bangladeshi community.
Channel S Awards 2012 aims to bring many achievers from every generation of Bangladeshi's in Britain to celebrate successes and legacies. Channel S Awards is one of the most influential awards schemes for promoting the British-Bangladeshi community in the UK. It recognizes the hidden talents within the community and rewards them. Channel S has taken this step every year since 2007 and has proven successful every year. In 2012, we plan to recognize and reward the hard-work individuals do in our community. The dilligent judges ensure that Channel S Awards are given fairly and successfully. 2012 Awards will be no different and we look forward to receiving and reviewing your nominations.
